Verde Photo Shoot! It’s been a while since we had an update to some of the product photos and we thought it would be fun to get some more action shots of our bamboo rugs and throw pillows in the home. Some will make the cut and some won’t, but we thought we’d give you a little teaser of what’s soon to be added to the main site. Here we have a very artistic shot of our natural tone bamboo rug with a beautiful pink flower on top:
Next you’ll see the perfect place to set your pet’s food and drink bowls. Dinner and easy cleanup! Maybe not the most convenient place for a guitar, but who cares, it looks cool! Switching gears a little, we’ve got a lovely rosette throw pillow accenting a girly bed: Perhaps on a leather couch? And finally another artistic shot of a small collection of organic throw pillows displayed across the wood floor:
We hope you keep an eye out for updates on these and more images as the month progresses and other shots make the cut!

Are we going too far? There are many products out there that help us live more eco-friendly lifestyles. But some new trends and products are starting to emerge that might have people asking the question, are we going too far with the “green” movement? Po-Zu (an ecological company) is now selling organic shoe cream. It is made with 100% coconut oil. The odd thing is that you can eat this shoe cream with your toast in the morning! It is edible and can even be used as lip balm. A product that is truly unique is an eco-friendly umbrella. The product itself is just the frame of an umbrella. But once a storm hits you can use anything you have available to you to attach to the frame. Things like newspapers or plastic bags work really well. This next item is a new and upcoming business. Catty Shack Creations takes fur from your pets and turns it into clothes for you! Your pet is washed and shaved, the fur is later spun into yard to make everything from clothes to even handbags. Are you interested in knowing how much pollution is around you? Well there is a new product that does just that, but in a very unique way. Stephanie Sandstrom designed a dress that detects pollution levels; if they are high the dress will wrinkle. So if your dress looks like you have slept in it, you will know you are breathing dirty air. There are new and odd “green” products being developed every day. But are we ready for such extreme change? This article appeared today in The Telegraph about a Croatian coffee shop that has replaced daily newspapers with iPads for its customers to read news on instead. This isn’t the first time iPads have been used to replace paper in eateries–there have already been reports of restaurants using iPads for wine lists and menus. From a recent article on Geek Sugar: “One steakhouse in Chicago has reported a more than 20 percent increase in wine purchases per customer after they switched their wine lists to the tablets.” Even fast service chain restaurants like Au Bon Pain are using them. What do you think of this trend? Eco-friendly or over the top? Would you prefer to read news or order food from an iPad or would you stick with your traditional newspaper and menu?

Green Christmas…Rent-A-TreeIf you celebrate Christmas, the Christmas tree is usually a big deal. Which is more eco-friendly–plastic or real trees? What to do with the real tree once the holiday is over? The Living Christmas company in California, near L.A., is renting out live, potted trees that customers can decorate and keep in their homes for the holidays, and then return to the company once their celebrations are over. The company then stores them and cares for the trees for the rest of the year, and the tree is again available for rent the next Christmas. They also deliver and pick up the tree for you! This is all well and good, but what if you don’t live somewhere where this service is provided? You can always consider buying a Christmas tree and caring for it all year round, or making your own creation with trimmings and branches.

People TowelsDid you know that every day over 3,000 pounds of paper towels are thrown away in the US? Or that, in one year, the average person uses between 2,400 and 3,000 paper towels at work? People Towels wants to change that. They produce eco-friendly reusable hand towels for individual use. The idea is that if we all carry around reusable towels and cut out using paper towels and even air dryers, we can reduce the amount of waste going into the landfill, and even reduce our carbon footprint. From their website: “PeopleTowels’ mission is to empower ordinary people and socially responsible companies to contribute to a sustainable environment by replacing paper towels with reusable PeopleTowels.” People Towels has several options for environmentally-friendly themed towel designs. They’re even selling limited edition Breast Cancer Fund designs. People Towels even has an ambassador program, People 4 People Towels, where participants can earn reward points by signing up and spreading the “B. Y. O. Towel” message. Check out their video: People Towels also just celebrated their 1-year anniversary this month! You can find them on Facebook or Twitter. It’s that time of the year to throw on your teams’ colors, make a bunch of delicious snacks and cheer on the boys to a football victory. It’s a time for family, friends and [maybe a bit too much] fun. But that doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice our mission to keep Planet Earth green. Here are some fun tips to ensure your football parties are a success. And environmentally friendly!
